For beginners who really
want to draw.
If you've ever thought to yourself:
- I don't know how to draw
- I don't think I'm good enough
- I'm too old to learn drawing
This site was made for you. Draw Academy is a brand new community you can be a part of from the start. With clear understanding and regular practice, anyone can learn to draw anything, and that includes you.
Simple but Powerful
The first step to learning any skill is mastering the basics. Too many people underestimate how much time this takes, and struggle with drawing. The basics of drawing are so powerful because they allow you to break up what you see into an accurate drawing.
Drawing isn't easy. But no one said learning it had to be hard, too. Here are three resources to give you the foundation you need to get good:
A series of articles made to clarify the drawing process.
Get as much help and advice as you need from other artists.
A course for beginners who are tired of struggling and serious about drawing.
About Joe Collins
My own drawing journey has been one of hard work and constant learning. As a self-taught artist, I know it's possible for anyone to learn to draw—including you.
I also know what it's like to be self-critical, and as a result believe that a key component of drawing success is having the right attitude.
I wrote this site with the following in mind:
- Talent is only an affinity for something; true skill is earned by hard work.
- Repetition is the foundation of learning.
- The most effective way to learn any skill is to master the basics.
- Through the internet, skills like drawing should and will become common knowledge.
